Empowering our next generation of leaders.

The Dave Goldberg Scholars Program honors the remarkable life and legacy of Dave Goldberg by providing exceptional KIPP and Peninsula Bridge graduates with financial support, one-on-one mentorship, and internship opportunities throughout college. In addition, we work hand-in-hand with graduates to help them find their first jobs.

Improving education and career outcomes for young people is an investment in our shared future.

That’s why the Goldberg Scholarship goes beyond traditional scholarships to offer wraparound support for low-income students at every stage of their college journey. We’re proud of the difference this makes; more than 90% of our first class of Goldberg Scholars have graduated, and are now employed or in grad school—which is well above the 11% national average of low-income college graduates.

Our Goldberg Scholars prove that when you provide more holistic support to motivated students, graduation rates skyrocket.

About Dave Goldberg

  • Dave Goldberg believed that everyone should have the opportunity to excel, and that even one game-changing idea could make the world a better place.
  • Throughout his life and work, Dave exhibited resilience, character, leadership, achievement, and unmatched entrepreneurial spirit. In 1994—years before broadband, Pandora, and Spotify—Dave founded LAUNCH Media, a digital music company that was eventually acquired by Yahoo! and became Yahoo! Music. In 2009, he became the CEO of SurveyMonkey, now Momentive—turning a 14-person company into the global data platform that it is today.
  • Dave was deeply grateful for the first-rate education he received that helped make his incredible career possible. And he felt strongly that every child, no matter who they are or where they're from, deserved those same opportunities. For Dave, education was a right, not a privilege.
  • Dave was beloved by his colleagues, adored by his friends, and cherished by his family. He was a true mensch—warm-hearted, endlessly generous, hilarious, and brilliant. He lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
  • Every October 2nd, in honor of Dave’s birthday, we open the Dave Goldberg Scholarship Application. Our goal is to honor his life by helping to empower the next generation of diverse leaders.
